This content aligns with Goals 1 and 5 by using qualitative approaches to explore the pathways of women's homelessness in the Kolkata megacity; identifying environmental, structural, and interpersonal factors associated with women's homelessness; and offering policy and practice recommendations for addressing this issue.

This content aligns with Goals 1 and 5 by assessing endemic levels of gender inequality and exclusion of homeless women and survival challenges for them in context of pertinent indicators like accessing basic services, occupational segregation, and gender-based violence.

The study forecasts AI-based innovation's impact on SDGs in 22 countries from 2022 to 2030 using System Dynamics Modeling. In most of the 22 countries studied, AI-based innovation positively affects SDGs 1, 3, and 5. For half of the countries studied, AI-based innovation positively influences SDGs 2, 4, 6–8, 11, 13, and 16–17. AI-based innovation does not positively influence SDGs 10, 12, 14–15 for most countries studied.

This chapter emphasizes the vital role of water in alleviating multidimensional poverty (SDG 1) by enhancing agricultural productivity, ensuring access to safe drinking water, and restoring ecosystems. Recognizing water as an economic, social, environmental, and institutional good, the chapter advocates for integrated water interventions that support sustainable watershed management, equitable benefit sharing, and ecosystem service expansion. Using a case study from North Gujarat, India, it highlights how water infrastructure development can both reduce and inadvertently deepen inequalities, underscoring the need for sustainable, equitable water management strategies that promote healthier communities and resilient urban environments (SDGs 11 and 3).

As we pass the halfway point for the SDGs, many of the goals are worryingly off track and progress on 85% of the target indicators has stalled or even reversed.
