Emerging pollutants (EPs), such as pharmaceuticals and personal care products (particularly antibiotics) and microplastics, pose significant threats to global water quality and human health, leading to increased interest in the use of constructed wetlands (CWs) for their purification. This paper reviews the literature from 2014 to 2024 on CWs' effectiveness in removing various EPs.

This chapter describes the development of a unified water information system designed to improve the management and preservation of hydrological resources in the Jamapa River Basin, supporting SDG 6 by strengthening data-driven water resource management. It also aligns with SDG 17 by highlighting collaboration and information exchange among multiple stakeholders to support sustainable water governance.

The globalized world already faces numerous climate challenges. Emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG), such as CO2, from human activities are the main highlight in the attempt to find culprits for global warming. Their emissions are already reaching alarming levels, and if they are not reduced or controlled as quickly as possible, the planet will be in danger. In light of this premise, microalgae play an important role in controlling and mitigating these gases. This chapter discusses the biological capture of GHGs by microalgae to control these emissions and achieve a more sustainable planet. Future perspectives and conclusions of this biological process are also briefly presented.

This research article highlights the need to improve menstrual hygiene practices and address urinary tract infection (UTI) prevalence through better facilities during sea invasions. Collaboration with local authorities to address related concerns is recommended.
