Anesthesiology Clinics: The Creation and Impact of Leadership Development Programs for Women in Medicine with a Focus on Anesthesiology

Inequity between the sexes in medicine has long existed in the workplace and is modestly improving. One of the key aspects to overcoming barriers to help women advance into leadership positions is leadership development programming. Leadership development programs focus on the woman physician building her skills, career coaching, and creating institutional changes. More data are needed and time for the programs to make an impact to show the trends in overall leadership gains.
