Early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a hitherto unresolved biological riddle despite the significant progress in research. Multifarious hitherto employed diagnostic tools include development of blood and cerebrospinal fluid–based biomarkers, imaging tools such as MRI, fMRI, and PET, proteomics, etc. Despite the discovery of robust diagnostic tools, early AD diagnosis is still a mirage. To overcome this challenge a multidimensional approach that can coalesce the data from various tools may be of utmost importance to accomplish early AD diagnosis. This chapter focuses primarily on the recent developments in AD diagnosis and their merits and demerits.
