This chapter presents general information about power production from offshore renewable energy sources (offshore wind, solar wave, tidal currents) including the energy conversion principles and the available energy conversion technologies. Main drawbacks associated to the transportation of offshore renewable power to onshore areas and integration into the electrical grid are summarized. Solutions addressing the synergy of offshore renewable exploitation with offshore oil and gas infrastructures in decommissioning or depleted hydrocarbons fields are proposed, leading to the development of innovative offshore hybrid energy systems.
