Industrialization and globalization are two big milestones in the development of human civilization and its development. Industrial wastewater which is released in freshwater bodies such as rivers, ponds, and lakes creates significant effects on the population, community, and ecosystem. In this chapter, we are trying to summarize different types of wastewater, its effects on freshwater ecosystem, and remedies to reduce the effect of these effluents on freshwater ecosystem and indirectly on humans.
