Given the millions of persons in the world today who have or will acquire physical, mental, intellectual, or sensory impairments, it is essential to overcome diverse attitudinal and environmental barriers to ensure full equal participation of all in society. Innovations, for instance, are increasingly being developed, including those based on digital and assistive technologies, to empower people of all ages, genders, and (dis)abilities and promote such inclusion, equity, and well-being. Yet, more such approaches are necessary. Also, policies being agreed upon globally, including at the United Nations, are supporting this advancement. Plans in the recovery period from COVID-19 pandemic and beyond must be disability inclusive to catalyze social inclusion, in order to “leave no one behind” and achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
