The FCID’s unique ability to link dietary data to multiple sustainability domains makes it indispensable for comprehensive analysis. Without timely updates and coordinated efforts, research will remain limited and policy decisions inadequately informed, hindering progress towards healthier, more sustainable food systems. Increased federal investment and interagency collaboration are necessary to build robust data infrastructure supporting sustainable diet initiatives and improved public health outcomes.
