This Chapter provides a concise overview of the current nuclear power reactors and Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs), i.e., their descriptions, basic parameters, schematics, layouts, T-s diagrams, and selected photos, and next-generation or Generation IV nuclear power reactors and NPPs, i.e., their descriptions, basic parameters, and schematics. Special section is dedicated to Generation IV International Forum (GIF), its origins and goals, and its six nuclear energy systems. In support of these major parts, a comparison of thermophysical properties of reactor coolants, and discussion on conventional and alternative nuclear fuels are also provided.
