Large, decentralized academic libraries often lack standardization or cohesiveness across social media accounts and platforms. While subject libraries need to maintain content and tone appropriate for their audience and platforms, establishing guidelines and best practices will facilitate management of social media accounts and help to ensure a standard of accessibility across all library accounts. This chapter will present a case study of a very large academic library collaboratively putting together a set of guidelines specifically about copyright and disability issues on social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. It will also discuss disseminating these guidelines through a series of workshops targeted at social media managers, and will offer an initial assessment of the guidelines’ impact on social media account owners, managers, and users.
